The cotton harvest is progressing across Brazil and had reached 12.8% as of last Friday (17). According to crop monitoring data from Conab, the harvest rate rose from 8.1% last week but still lags behind the rate recorded during the same period in 2025 (16.7%), though it is in line with the average for the past five years (14.2%).

The states with the most advanced harvests are Maranhão (31%), Piauí (30%), Goiás (27%), Minas Gerais (23%), Mato Grosso do Sul (22%), Bahia (21%), and Mato Grosso (8.7%). The remainder of the crops is divided between 76.9% already in the ripening stage and the remaining 10.3% in the grain-filling stage.

Conab technicians note that the harvest continues to gain momentum in Mato Grosso, with new areas showing ideal bud opening, though producers remain vigilant regarding phytosanitary management to control the corn borer.

Work is also progressing in Bahia and Mato Grosso do Sul, where weather conditions are favorable for activities in the Chapadões region, with satisfactory yields.

In Maranhão, the Balsas region experienced unseasonable rainfall for this time of year, which hampered the progress of the harvest, though no significant delays are expected.
