Cattle/Cepea: Greater buyer interest and tighter supply stabilize prices
The sequence of price drops in much of May has been giving way to stability in the cattle market and, since the middle of last week, deals with upward adjustments have become frequent, according to surveys by Cepea. According to the research center, there has been an increase in interest from buyers for animals on the spot and, at the same time, supply is more restricted due to resistance from cattle farmers who are asking for higher prices. Also according to Cepea's monitoring, slaughter schedules have shortened to around a week; some purchases at the beginning of this week predicted shipment in one or two days. In the Greater São Paulo wholesale market, the Research Center points out that average meat prices remain stable, with an improvement in the pace of sales.
